Artists' International Development Fund: Way Back Home

I am so happy to announce that I have been awarded the Artists' International Development Fund, a jointly funded programme between the British Council and the Arts Council England.

In late 2017, I will commence my writing and development project called "Way Back Home". This project involves travelling back to my motherland, the Philippines. I will undertake a 3-week writing visit and artistic development project under the guidance of my host, poet, Marjorie Evasco. I will also visit De La Salle's Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Centre and its Literature Department in Manila.

The project will also involve visiting my hometown of Batangas where I plan to learn about culture, traditions, and identity which will be the incorporating themes of my poems. I will be writing poems throughout the project and will be working collaboratively with my host who will act as my mentor to help me develop my poetry through face-to-face and online feedback and discussions.

At the end of my trip, I will be performing my written works and presenting my poetics to the graduate students of De La Salle University, Manila.

I will be documenting this project on this blog, so please watch this space.

Flying to the Philippines
